Happy New Year

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New years and are back into the swing of the new year. Some armed with new years resolutions but if your like most you probably have broken already. The stats are that 90% of new years resolutions are broken by the time February rolls around.

Why is it so? Its because most resloutions are either too strict - like mine i wont eat sugar again, well that lasted a week until the girlfriend brought ice cream into the home - game over. The other problem is that they are negative goals not positive goals.

What are negative goals? Well they are like my goal trying to steer me away from sugar. Other examples are - im not going to be fat anymore or im not going to smoke anymore. Both great goals but rarely achieved because they are deeper than a one line phrase. To not be fat anymore requires an eating plan, training plan and a whole new outlook on life and even stopping smoking could entail patches and a change of outlook on personal health.

Also it is a negative way of looking at it. The best way to achieve your goals is to have positive goals. Theses are goals that are bringing you toward something you want to achieve. Like i am going to become more healthy in 2013 or get fitter, or do a half marathon or triathlon. Theses goals are positive and are focused on becoming better as people and will be far more achievable because you will want to do it. Who doesnt want to better themselves? Doesnt that beat focusing on your negative parts of your life. Instead focus on the positive - a positive mind means a positive body.

Good luck with your resolutions and have a great 2013!
