Training Myths part 2 - Sweat out the toxins

Dont sweat the small stuff

We have all heard this one - had a big weekend out on the drink then turn up for training on Monday with the plan of sweating out the toxins gained on the weekend. Lets have a look at this myth.
Our bodies already have a system to relieve the body of toxins its called the liver and the toxins are relieved in the urine. As our sweat glands are not related to this system and are located under our skin not in our bladders. The only thing we sweat are electrolytes and water. Sweat is used to cool down the body not to relieve the body of toxins or fat. Yes fat have you ever heard that one that people think they can sweat fat cells out. This one is not even worth discussing except for a laugh. But yet you still hear it from time to time.
Just imagine what sweat would smell like if it was relieving the body of toxins a bit like we had bathed in a urinal. Yuk lucky its only water hey.
