How to change your metabolic setpoint
Hi guys we are back to do part two of the metabolic setpoint theory. Last week i explained what it is this week its how to change it. As discussed last week your body is an efficient survival machine so it will work against you trying to lower your metabolic setpoint. If you do it too fast your body will think your starving and i will send messages for you to eat more, store more fat and slow your metabolic rate down. This is why fasting and extreme diets like no carb diets, eight hour, shake only etc don't work. To make it work you need:
1.To eat small portions
2. Eat six or seven meals a day.
3. Exercise.
4.Have a cheat day once a week or fortnight.
5. Eat clean for 6 days a week no exceptions til cheat day.
6. No diet just a sustainable eating plan forever.
7. Eat healthy.
It must be done gradually it must be an eating and training plan that you can live the rest of your life doing. This way your body will not think there is a problem food is still coming in all day long but in small portions it never has to worry about starving as food comes in every two or three hours unless asleep. You are digesting all day, there is no need to store fat or slow down the metabolic rate because we are not starving we are just eating healthy small portions all day long. Treat your body as though it is a nervous grandma that must be reassured all the time. Its like you are talking to your body saying its OK body im eating every two hours, im eating vegetables every meal, im never starving, im exercising every day, on Saturday we will have a cheat day when i will eat some treats i have been avoiding all week. This way the body gets used to this cycle and knows that no need to slow down the metabolic rate as it will get a day of cheating where sweets and fatty food - to a small degree- will come in. Eventually even the most stubborn metabolic setpoint will come down. But be patient if it has been 20 years since you were thin you cant expect 12 weeks will make you a rake. It will take time maybe a year maybe two it all depends on how much weight you want to lose, how long has the weight been on, where is your metabolic setpoint now, how old you are, how much training you do, your gender and your genes. But hang in there and it will happen. Try to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. As along this journey you are looking after yourself and becoming healthy maybe for the first time in your life. That is a better reason to do it than any other. After all You only have one life to live and one body to get you through so look after it.
