How to stay motivated during winter

How to stay motivated during Winter

Now we are well entrenched in Winter which is always the time when most people's motivation drops off. The old excuses come in to play like i have an early appointment or late meeting, got to be in work early or stay back late, too busy, got to pick the kids up from school, can't get a babysitter and the list goes on. The real excuses are its too cold and i can't be bothered getting out of bed. But no one ever says the real excuse. Why do we get so demotivated in Winter. The cold mornings, dark afternoons. Whatever it is it happens to lots of us. Not me i love Winter in QLD if these people think its cold try training in Melbourne in July. Harden up princess. Im sure there are many people from Alaska, Canada, Russia etc reading this saying to me you think melbournes cold you should try going out running in the snow where im from. Its all relative. A winters day in QLD would be a summers day in Russia. So no excuses on the weather front. The cold is great means you sweat less and can train harder. So personally i love training in Winter - Queensland winter anyway.

To stay motivated goals must be set for spring like i want to lose a dress size/ belt size or two or three in 12 weeks or by spring. Or i want to run a marathon or half marathon by spring.  Set a date and an achievable goal that means you must train hard all winter to achieve it.
Prioritise training by making training a non negotiable. That means no matter what happens you are going to training no excuses. Whether a friend calls to catch up or the boss says you must stay late.  Treat it like every other appointment in your life that must be met no matter what the circumstances.  Training should be a high priority no exceptions.
