Cross fit - training future or just a fade?
There has been a lot of buzz about cross fit in the last few years. Some good some bad so what is true. Should you do it or not. The idea of competing a circuit in a specified time or as many times in a specified time isn't new people have been training that way for years. But what cross fit brings to the table is a large array of workouts that are so challenging it will test every muscle and fibre of your body. There are many activities that many people cant do and will take a while to achieve. This is the true genius of cross fit. The hand stand walks or hand stand push ups, the muscle ups, the rope climbs, the pistol squats and so on. These activities may take a while to achieve but in the process of achieving them the you are getting fitter and stronger and keeping your training fresh and new. There are so many workouts you will never be bored and they are so hard it will keep you interested for ages. Then when you can complete them you start working on your time or amount of reps you can complete in the time frame. - AMRAP- As many reps as possible
So I certainly say that cross fit is here to stay and a great way to train. The cross fit games are a great event to watch and to inspire you on to more in your own training seeing how fit people can become. These guys really are the fittest on earth. The only bad thing i will say is be careful when starting out make sure you learn proper technique before attempting the workouts of the day WOD. Especially the weighted exercises like dead lifts, weighted squats or snatches. Make sure your technique is rock solid before adding the pressure of the clock to your workout. That is where all the injuries come from people trying to lift heavy weight with poor technique. So get that sorted first and you will be on your way to the body you always wanted.
