Paleo Diet is it for you?

Paleo Diet is it for you?

We have all heard a lot recently about the Paleolithic or Paleo diet as the new trend in the diet world. Although this diet has been around since the 70's by this and other names like the caveman diet. Or you could say it has been around since the Paleolithic era 15000 years ago. This is where it gets it name from this is supposedly what we ate during this period. The diet consists of fish, meat, fruits and vegetables with no processed food , dairy, sugar or processed oils. Sound great that's what nutritionist have been telling us to eat for many years. So essentially I agree with it with a few conditions.

Number one is that it has too much red meat I doubt as cavemen we where killing animals that regularly to eat meat every meal. Whenever I have been to a Paleo cafe its has been stacked with red meat which should only be eating a couple of times a week not every day and defiantly not every meal. So that needs to be changed as eating red meat everyday is bad for you and even white meat should be kept to every second or third day not every meal like Paleo suggests.
The second is that I don't agree with diets as a whole so to take this on I would want it to be a lifestyle change so that you are eating this way forever not just a few weeks or months. So in this case to ask that you never have bread or cereal again ever is too much to ask so maybe just twice a week because bread is not bad for you its just carbohydrate heavy same with cereals. That way you can make it a lifestyle change not a diet which is what we are all looking for.
I love the part about no processed food including sugar this is the reason the diet works. Take sugar away from any diet and it will work. This part is great and the reason it gets a tick from me. This coupled with the fruits and vegetable intakes is what im all about. The use of coconut oil, herbal tea, nuts and seeds are great also. You can basically say its a whole foods diet which no processed foods eaten which is what I have been telling tell my clients to eat for years anyway. But it is great to have a name for it.
So in conclusion go for a Paleo way of life just limit your red meat and even white meat intakes and replace with fruit and vegetables this would have been the real Paleo diet anyway.
