Diets don't work.
Another misconception of health and fitness is that you need to diet to lose weight. No you don't because diets don't work just ask Magda Szubanski. What works is an eating plan that allows you to live a normal life eating normal food just cutting down your portion sizes. Eating real food and real food is vegetables, fruit, beans, nuts, leagues, lean meat and fish. Real food is not shakes, weight watchers food, light and easy meals, Jenny Craig's meals or lean cuisine meals that look and taste like they have been made in a science lab. If you read a label and you can't understand the ingredients neither will your body so don't eat it.
All these companies make money from the yo yo dieter the person who eats all there crappy food for a month or two lose a few pounds then put it all back on and then some when that person starts eating normal foods again. This is the Yo yo diet. The problem with this is that every time you yo yo up again your body decides we need to safe guard against the lack of nutrients and food coming in by releasing hormones to tell you to eat more so that next time you go on your crash diet you are now 10 kgs heavier than when you started and 20kgs than the time before and so on and on it goes until you become obese. This is called the buffer zone. The buffer zone occurs when the body is deprived of nutrients the body goes into survival mode and as soon as normal food not plastic food enters the body again it must hold onto that food and slow down the metabolism and increase your cravings for food til you are bigger than your starting weight. Its like a safety net so if we ever stave again we have more reserves to last us through the starvation. Your body doesn't understand diets it only understands survival and it will do whatever it can to survive and if that means slowing down your metabolism, spiking your appetite and storing more fat it will. You don't want your body working against you because you wont beat it.
You need to work with your body not against it. Supply it with real food every two to three hours so it knows food is always coming. Supply it with food it can use quality food full of nutrients and you will not only stay lean and healthy you will never be hungry but never full and you will rarely ever be sick.
The plastic food offered by these companies has little or no nutritional value is causes stress, diseases like diabetes, cancer, anxiety, depression just to name a few so even if you lose weight in the short term you will be taking pills and at the doctors every week in the long term. So eat healthy look after your body you can eat as much green veg as you like so enjoy food don't cut out carbs or stave yourself just eat good food all the time have a cheat day or meal once a week and love your life and love your body.
